<turbo:content> Granite (through German Granit or French granit from Italian granito - "granular") is an igneous plutonic rock of acid composition of normal alkalinity from the family of granites. Consists of quartz, plagioclase, potassium feldspar and micas - biotite and / or muscovite. Granites are very widespread in the continental crust. Density of granite - 2700 kg / m³, compressive strength up to 300 MPa. Melting point - 1215-1260 ° C; in the presence of water and pressure, the melting point is significantly reduced - up to 650 ° C. Granites are the most important rocks in the earth's crust. They are widespread, form the base of most of all continents, and can form in a variety of ways.

Granite is one of the densest, hardest and most durable rocks. It is used in construction as a facing material. In addition, granite has low water absorption and high resistance to frost and dirt. That is why it is ideal for both indoor and outdoor paving. In the interior, granite is also used for decorating walls, stairs, creating countertops and columns, decorating stair flights with granite balusters, creating flowerpots, facing fireplaces and fountains. In the exterior, granite is often used as a facing, construction (rubble stone for foundations, fences and retaining walls) or masonry material (paving stones, breccia). Granite is also used for making monuments and for granite crushed stone. The first is mined in block open pits, the second - in crushed stone.
